Psalms 1

   |

The Righteous and the Wicked Contrasted.

1 (F1)Blessed fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God is the man who does not (C1)walk in the (C2)counsel of the wicked following their advice and example,
Nor stand in the (C3)path of sinners,
Nor (C4)sit down to rest in the seat of (F2)scoffers (ridiculers).

2 But his (C1)delight is (C2)in the law of the LORD,
And on His law His precepts and teachings he habitually meditates (C3)day and (C4)night. (VR1)

3 And he will be like (C1)a tree firmly planted and fed by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season;
Its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he (C2)prospers and comes to maturity. (VR1)

4 The wicked those who live in disobedience to God's law are not so,
But they are like the (C1)chaff worthless and without substance which the wind blows away.

5 Therefore (C1)the wicked will not stand unpunished in the (C2)judgment,
Nor sinners in (C3)the assembly of the righteous.

6 For the LORD (C1)knows and fully approves the way of the righteous,
But the way of (C2)the wicked shall perish.
