Israel Invoked to Praise the LORD.

¹ Praise the LORD!
Sing to the LORD a ^(C1)new song,
And praise Him ^(C2)in the congregation of His godly ones (believers).

² Let Israel rejoice in ^(C1)their Maker;
Let Zion's children rejoice in their ^(C2)King. ^(VR1)

³ Let them praise His name with ^(C1)dancing;
Let them sing praises to Him with the ^(C2)tambourine and lyre.

⁴ For the LORD ^(C1)takes pleasure in His people;
He will ^(C2)beautify the humble with salvation.

⁵ Let the ^(C1)godly ones exult in glory;
Let them ^(C2)sing for joy on their beds.

⁶ Let the ^(C1)high praises of God be in their throats,
And a ^(C2)two-edged ^(C3)sword in their hands, ^(VR1)

⁷ To ^(C1)execute vengeance on the nations
And punishment on the peoples,

⁸ To bind their kings ^(C1)with chains
And their ^(C2)nobles with fetters of iron,

⁹ To ^(C1)execute on them the judgment written.
This is the ^(C2)honor for all His godly ones.
