Psalms 149

   |

Israel Invoked to Praise the LORD.

1 Praise the LORD!
Sing to the LORD a (C1)new song,
And praise Him (C2)in the congregation of His godly ones (believers).

2 Let Israel rejoice in (C1)their Maker;
Let Zion's children rejoice in their (C2)King. (VR1)

3 Let them praise His name with (C1)dancing;
Let them sing praises to Him with the (C2)tambourine and lyre.

4 For the LORD (C1)takes pleasure in His people;
He will (C2)beautify the humble with salvation.

5 Let the (C1)godly ones exult in glory;
Let them (C2)sing for joy on their beds.

6 Let the (C1)high praises of God be in their throats,
And a (C2)two-edged (C3)sword in their hands, (VR1)

7 To (C1)execute vengeance on the nations
And punishment on the peoples,

8 To bind their kings (C1)with chains
And their (C2)nobles with fetters of iron,

9 To (C1)execute on them the judgment written.
This is the (C2)honor for all His godly ones.
Praise the LORD! (Hallelujah!)
