Psalms 46

   |

God the Refuge of His People.

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah, set to soprano voices. A Song.

1 God is our (C1)refuge and strength mighty and impenetrable,
A very (C2)present and well-proved help (C3)in trouble.

2 Therefore we will (C1)not fear, though (C2)the earth should change
And though (C3)the mountains be shaken and slip into the heart of the seas,

3 Though its (C1)waters roar and foam,
Though the mountains tremble at its roaring. Selah.

4 There is a (C1)river whose streams make glad the (C2)city of God,
The holy (C3)dwelling places of the Most High.

5 God is (C1)in the midst of her His city, she will not be moved;
God will (C2)help her when the morning dawns.

6 The nations (C1)made an uproar, the kingdoms tottered and were moved;
He (C2)raised His voice, the earth (C3)melted.

7 The LORD of hosts (C1)is with us;
The God of Jacob is (C2)our stronghold our refuge, our high tower. Selah.

8 Come, (C1)behold the works of the LORD,
Who has brought (C2)desolations and wonders on the earth.

9 He (C1)makes wars to cease to the end of the earth;
He (C2)breaks the bow into pieces and snaps the spear in two;
He (C3)burns the chariots with fire.

10 "Be still and (C1)know (recognize, understand) that I am God.
I will be (C2)exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth."

11 The LORD of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our stronghold our refuge, our high tower. Selah.
