Revelation 16

   |

Six Bowls of Wrath

1 Then I heard a loud voice from (C1)the temple, saying to the (C2)seven angels, "Go and (C3)pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath and indignation of God." (VR1)

2 So the first angel went and poured out his bowl (C1)on the earth; and loathsome and malignant (C2)sores came on the people (C3)who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped his image. (VR1)

3 The second angel poured out his bowl (C1)into the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a corpse foul and disgusting; and every living (F1)thing in the sea died.

4 Then the third angel poured out his bowl into the (C1)rivers and the springs of water; and they (C2)turned into blood. (VR1)5 And I heard the angel of the waters saying, "(C1)Righteous and just are You, (C2)Who are and Who were, O (C3)Holy One, because You (C4)judged these things;6 for they have poured out (C1)the blood of the saints (God's people) and the prophets, and You in turn have given them (C2)blood to drink. They deserve Your judgment." (VR1)7 And I heard another from (C1)the altar saying, "Yes, O (C2)Lord God, the Almighty the Omnipotent, the Ruler of all, Your judgments are (C3)true and fair and righteous." (VR1)

8 Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on (C1)the sun, (C2)and it was given power to scorch humanity with raging fire.9 People were severely burned by the great heat; and they (C1)reviled the name of God who has power over these plagues, but they (C2)did not repent of their sin and (C3)glorify Him.

10 Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the (C1)throne of the beast, and his kingdom was plunged into (C2)darkness; and people gnawed their tongues because of the pain of their excruciating anguish and severe torment, (VR1)11 and they (C1)blasphemed the (C2)God of heaven because of their anguish and their (C3)sores (abscesses, boils); and they (C4)did not repent of what they had done nor hate their wickedness.

12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the (C1)great river, the Euphrates; and (C2)its water was dried up, so that (C3)the way would be prepared for the coming of the kings (C4)from (F1)the east. (VR1)

Armageddon

13 And I saw three (C1)loathsome spirits like (C2)frogs, leaping from the mouth of the (C3)dragon (Satan) and from the mouth of the (C4)beast (Antichrist, dictator) and from the mouth of the (C5)false prophet; (VR1)14 for they are actually the (C1)spirits of demons, (C2)performing miraculous signs. And they go out to the kings of the (C3)entire inhabited earth, to (C4)gather them together for the war of the (C5)great day of God, the Almighty.15 ("Behold, (C1)I am coming like a thief. (F1)(C2)Blessed is he who (F2)stays awake and who keeps his clothes that is, stays spiritually ready for the Lord's return, (C3)so that he will not be naked—spiritually unprepared—and men will not see his shame.") (VR1)16 And they (demons) (C1)gathered the kings and armies of the world together at the place which (C2)in Hebrew is called (F1)(C3)Har-Magedon (Armageddon).

Seventh Bowl of Wrath

17 Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into (C1)the air, and a (C2)loud voice came out of the (C3)temple from the throne of God, saying, "(C4)It is done. It is all over, it is all accomplished, it has come."18 And there were flashes of (C1)lightning and loud rumblings and peals of thunder; and there was (C2)a massive earthquake—(C3)nothing like it has ever occurred since mankind originated on the earth, so severe and far-reaching was that earthquake. (VR1)19 (C1)The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And God (C2)kept in mind (C3)Babylon the great, to give her (C4)the cup of the wine of His fierce and furious wrath.20 Then (C1)every island fled away, and no mountains could be found.21 And (C1)giant hailstones, as heavy as a (F1)talent, fell from the sky on the people; and people (C2)reviled and spoke abusively of God for the (C3)plague of the hail, because the plague was so very great.
