The house of Jacob from a people of a ^(C2)foreign language,

² Judah became ^(C1)His sanctuary;
Israel, ^(C2)His dominion.

³ The ^(C1)sea looked and fled;
The ^(C2)Jordan turned back.

⁴ The mountains ^(C1)skipped like rams,
The hills, like lambs.

⁵ What ^(C1)ails you, sea, that you flee?
Jordan, that you turn back?

⁶ Mountains, that you skip like rams?
Hills, like lambs?

^7 (C1)Tremble, earth, before the Lord,
Before the God of Jacob,

⁸ Who ^(C1)turned the rock into a ^(C2)pool of water,
The ^(C3)flint into a fountain of water.
