14:19 punishment (a-5) punishment (a-10) Chattah , 'sin,' as Proverbs 10:16 ; 'Punishment' may be alluded to as what represents and marks the sin. see Lamentations 3:39 ; Lamentations 4:6 ; bearing the sin on himself in punishment, something like the sense of sin-offering. It must be so taken here; but so as to charge the measure and character of sin, not merely the fact of punishment. It is governmentally putting the sin upon him instead of taking it off. see Lamentations 4:22 .
