An amazing story has come out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A woman named Luz Cuevas saw her six year old daughter at a birthday party she was attending. Why is that amazing? Her daughter had been declared dead six years ago in a house fire.

Here is what went down. In 1997 Cuevas was married to Pedro Vera who, that year, had fathered their daughter Delimar. A fire suddenly blazed in Delimar's room where she was supposedly sleeping. The blaze was so hot and so sudden that no one was able to get into the room to rescue the child whom fire officials assumed burned in the blaze. Not long after a community friend, Carolyn Correa, announced she was pregnant. The six year old at the birthday party was her "daughter".

Cuevas recognized her daughter as soon as she saw her. She pretended to help remove gum from the little girl's hair so she could take hair samples for DNA testing. She then convinced state Representative Angel Cruz to take the hair to authorities for testing. Cruz, skeptical at first, finally relented on a hunch. The test confirmed Cuevas' claim. The girl is her daughter. Right now the child is being held by the state in lieu of deciding who has the right to the little girl. Meanwhile, Correa is being sought on charges of arson and kidnapping.

Isn't it odd that a story like that could happen? If you think that's odd, try this one. A child only a few years old runs away from its father who had loved it from birth and had done so much to make its life wonderful. Who does the child run to? The father's mortal enemy. The child was enticed by the glitz and glamour that his father's sworn enemy showed him. But the glitz soon faded and the glamour grew ugly. The child realized it had made a mistake.

He came to his senses and apologetically returned to his father. His father's response? "Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet, and bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again, he was lost and is found." Luke 15:22-24 The Father is God. The enemy is Satan. The child could be you. God wants His children home where they belong.
