The college football season is winding down rapidly. Just three weeks of college football left before the most whacked up method of choosing a national champion in a major sport will take place. The pollsters will determine who's number one in college football just in time for post season bowl games to be determined and the Bowl Championship Series to be set to determine who will be crowned as national champs.

So, who's number one in baseball? The Boston Red Sox. How? Because they beat the two teams everyone else was saying were the number one teams. They did that, not by someone voting them into post season action, but by beating the teams in their division and league and then beating the team considered to be the best in the other league. Same with the Detroit Pistons in professional basketball and the New England Patriots last year in professional football.

Who's number one in golf? Vijay Singh. How? Because he amassed the most points based on victories in golf tournaments and money won as opposed to the other golfers on the Professional Golfers Association Tour. The man won nine times, finished in the top ten scads of others and more than doubled the closest man to him in the money race by earning roughly ten million dollars. Wouldn't it be terrible to be the best in your game, have to prove it by beating all the others, and still have to be voted on?

Enter Jesus. He is decidedly the best that ever lived. "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." 2 Corinthians 5:21 He beat the one person He had to beat in a head-to-head confrontation. He even defeated our enemies of death and sin. God has even exalted Him. Matthew 4:1-11; 1 Corinthians 15:55-57; Romans 6:5-7; Philippians 2:9-11

With all that victory and recognition He is still not number one until we vote Him in. " ' Men and brethren what shall we do?' Then Peter said to them, 'Repent and let everyone of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.' Then those who gladly received his word were baptized." Acts 2:37, 38, 41 So, who's number one in your life?
