Coincidence. It's the stuff superstition is built on. Take for instance the odd coincidence of L. Frank Baum and his famous book, "The Wizard of Oz," when it went into production as a movie. The production was lavishly done with brilliant colors since it was being filmed in color rather than black and white. As such, the Wizard had to be outfitted in elegant looking attire.

A group of coats was purchased from a second hand store in Los Angeles. The most elegant appearing one was chosen as the one to be worn by Frank Morgan, the actor cast as the Wizard. During the filming of the movie Frank Morgan happened to reach inside one of the somewhat obscure many pockets in the inside lining of the coat and found a note.

The entire crew was stunned when Frank Morgan produced the note as he pulled it from the pocket in which it had been secreted. The reason they were stunned was that the note was from L. Frank Baum himself. The staff researched the coat's history and found out from the owner of the second hand store that L. Frank Baum was the coats original owner. By coincidence, the author had chosen the coat his wizard would wear.

Our own lives are filled with coincidences. We should not rush to make very much of most of those. But there are circumstances where coincidence is just a little too prevalent. Many try to brush off the blessings of God as mere coincidence. The intents of a loving Father should never be cast as happenstance. They should be accepted as the tender gestures of devotion they are in response to our love for the one who saved us.

" 'Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and prove me now in this,' says the Lord of hosts, 'If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.' " Malachi 3:10 When we serve the living God His blessings are never the result of coincidence. They are the intentions of one whose love is measureless.
