Holman Bible Dictionary
(assh' chih naz) ASHKENAZ Personal and national name given two spellings in KJV but spelled Ashkenaz in modern translations. A son of Gomer (Genesis 10:3 ) and original ancestor of people called kingdom of Ashkenaz (Jeremiah 51:27 ). Usually identified with Scythians. See Scythians .
