An ancient measurement equal to the width of the hand at the base of the fingers (about three inches). Ezekiel's long cubit was six handbreaths, one more than the common cubit (Ezekiel 40:5 ). In Psalm 39:5 “a few handbreadths” illustrates the shortness of life.
