Holman Bible Dictionary

(lihss' ih uhss) Second name or birth name of Roman tribune or army captain who helped Paul escape the Jews and appear before Felix, the governor (Acts 23:26 ). See Claudius . His name also appears in some Greek manuscripts at Acts 24:7 but not in the manuscripts followed by many modern translations as the earliest. Compare Acts 24:22 .
