Anchorhold

(Greek: anachoreo, withdraw)
A walled-up hermitage or anchorage built beside a church, having two windows, one opening outside through which the recluse receives food and the other into the church. It is the name and subject of an English chivalric tale by Enid Dinnis (London, 1922).
