Asahel

People's Dictionary of the Bible

Asahel (â'sa-hĕl, or ăs'a-hĕl), whom God made. 1. The nephew of David, son of his sister Zeruiah, and brother of Joab and Abishai. He was fleet of foot, and pursued Abner so keenly after a skirmish, that that warrior was reluctantly compelled, in self-defence, to Mil him. 2 Samuel 2:18-32; 2 Samuel 3:27; 2 Samuel 3:30; 2 Samuel 23:24; 1 Chronicles 11:26; 1 Chronicles 27:7. 2. A Levite. 2 Chronicles 17:8. 3. Another Levite. 2 Chronicles 31:13. 4. Father of a person employed with Ezra. Ezra 10:15.
