Alveary

1911 Encyclopedia Britannica

(from the Lat. alvearium), a beehive; used, like apiarium in the same sense, figuratively for a collection of hardworking people, or a scholarly work (e.g. dictionary) involving bee-like industry. By analogy the term is used for the hollow of the ear, where the wax collects.
