Korkus

1911 Encyclopedia Britannica

an aboriginal tribe of India, dwelling on the Satpura hills in the Central Provinces. They are of interest as being the westernmost representatives of the Munda family of speech. They are rapidly becoming hinduized, as may be gathered from the figures of the census of 1901, which show 540,000 Korkus by race, but only 88,000 speakers of the Korku language.
