Modillion

1911 Encyclopedia Britannica

(a French word, probably from Lat. modulus, a measure of proportion), a term in architecture for the enriched block or horizontal bracket generally found under the cornice and above the bedmould of the Corinthian entablature. It is probably so called because of its arrangement in regulated distances.
