Alegress
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
The seven Alegresses are prayers addressed to the Blessed Virgin in the Roman Church. The word is derived from alaigre, Lat. alacer, and signifies uncontrolled joy.
