Davis, William (1)

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Baptist minister, was born in Orange County, Virginia, January 7, 1765. He was immersed at a Baptist Church in Orange County, called "Blue Run," in his fifteenth year; soon after began publicly to exhort; at sixteen became a soldier in the Revolutionary army, and was wounded in the head. He was licensed to preach in 1788; ordained in Georgia in 1793; served one church in Elbert County twenty-three years; that at Beaver Dam twelve years; Clark's Station nineteen years; and died October 31, 1831.
