Deihl, Michael
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
or a Lutheran professor, was born near Greencastle, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, in March 1819. He attended a classical school, in his native town, in 1838; graduated from Pennsylvania College in 1844; and then pursued the course in the Gettysburg Theological Seminary. In 1846 he accepted an appointment to the chair of ancient languages in Wittenberg College, Springfield, Ohio, which position he held until 1868, when impaired health compelled him to resign. In connection with his labors as professor, he took charge of churches at different times in several places near Springfield. He died there, March 29, 1869. In 1859 he published a Biography of Dr. Ezra Keller, first president of Wittenberg College. See Pennsylvania College Book, 1882, page 220.
