son of Charles (q.v.), was born at Paris in 1625. After having completed his studies at Saumur, he was called to the Reformed Church at La Rochelle. He was ordained in 1651 by his father, and fully justified by the sanctity of his life and his Christian humility the confidence. which the people of La Rochelle had placed in him. In 1660 he was obliged to leave that place in consequence of an edict which prohibited Protestant families, who had not already resided there before the year 1628, to live there. He accepted a call to Niort, where he died, June 2, 1680, leaving, Le Saint Ministere de l'Evangile (1651): Sermon sur les Noces de Cana (1657): La Salutaire Lever du Soleil de Justice (1665): Les Etoiles de l'Eglise et les Chandeliers Miystiques (1677): Sonnets Chretiens (often reprinted).
