a Spanish writer and ecclesiastic, was born at Ronda, in the province of Granada, about 1551. He was educated at Salamanca, and served as a soldier in Flanders. His ecclesiastical position seems to have been that of chaplain at Ronda, but he resided chiefly. at Madrid. He died about 1634. He is now chiefly noted for his romance of Marcos de Oregon, a work delineating Spanish mariners. He was also a poet of some reputation.
