an Italian prelate, was born on Scio in 1520. He joined the Franciscan order, went to Italy provided with valuable manuscripts, taught theology at Padua and Genoa, and accompanied cardinal Ferrara to France. Giustiniani took part in the discussion of Poissy, then was appointed grand almoner of the duke of Savoy, and bishop of Geneva. He assisted at the Council of Trent. Pope Pius IV confided to him an important negotiation with the king of France, in which he acquitted himself well. In 1578 he was obliged to resign his bishopric on account of a violent attack of gout. He died Feb. 22, 1596, leaving Commentarii in Quaedam Capita Sancti Johannis: Sermones. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog.
