Richardson, J. Clark
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
or a Presbyterian minister, was born in East Windsor, Conn., in 1822. He spent some time in Yale College, but was compelled to discontinue because of sickness. Subsequently he passed a year, in the double character of pupil and tutor, in the University of Knoxville, Tenn. In 1847 he acted as colporteur in Kentucky and Tennessee; in 1849 he was licensed by the Presbytery of Tennessee, and was associated with James G. Fee as a missionary until 1860, when he accepted an invitation to Oramel, Allegheny Co., N.Y., where he was ordained by Genesee Valley Presbytery, and where he continued his acceptable labors until his removal to Ossian, N.Y., in 1865. He died Sept. 30, 1865. Mr. Richardson was a devoted, self-denying minister of the Gospel; in spirit, humble and retiring; in the maintenance of truth and the discharge of duty, extremely conscientious. See Wilson, Presb.
