a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born in Woodbury Conn., Oct. 20, 1803. He was converted in his seventeenth year, licensed as a local preacher in 1823, and admitted into the itinerancy, in 1830, laboring successively in Stratford and Burlingtoun in the New York Conference, and Albany and Troy in the Troy Conference, to which he was transferred in 1834. In 1838 he was appointed presiding elder in Albany District, in which he labored four years. In 1842, owing to failing health, he was appointed to Jonesville, a small station in Saratoga. County, N.Y.; in 1843 to Troy, where he died, March 10, 1844. Mr. Sherman was an excellent preacher, clear in his method, and forcible in his manner of address.
