a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, was born in Monkton, Vt., in 1820. He was received on trial in the Troy Conference in 1843, and labored faithfully wherever appointed. His work, however, was short, for death overtook him at the early age of thirty-five years. He died in Albany, April 8, 1855. Mr. Smith was deeply pious, an industrious student and a devoted pastor.
