Fr�nkel, Benjamin

The 1901 Jewish Encyclopedia

Russian scholar; lived at Warsaw in the first half of the nineteenth century. He traveled in Germany and England. He published the following works: (1) "Teru'at Melek," on patriotism and the obligation of loyalty, published together with a German translation, Breslau, 1833; (2) "Ne?a? we-Hod," treating of the immortality and perpetual peace of the soul according to the prophets and philosophers, published together with an English translation, London, 1836; (3) "Ebel Kabed," an elegy in Hebrew and English on the death of Baron Nathan Rothschild, ib. 1836.

Samuel Ghirondi, who made the acquaintance of Fr�nkel in Italy, highly praises his learning and piety.
