Hoffman, Charles Isaiah

The 1901 Jewish Encyclopedia

American editor and communal worker; born at Philadelphia, Pa., Jan. 3, 1864; educated at the University of Pennsylvania, at that of Cambridge, England, and at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. Hoffman was the editor and one of the founders of "The Jewish Exponent" (Philadelphia); president of the Beth Israel congregation of Philadelphia; president of District No. 3, I.O.B.B.; and was one of the founders and for fifteen years the secretary of the Association of Jewish Immigrants, at Philadelphia.
