Spanish translator; translated from Arabic into Hebrew for David ibn Bilia the farewell letter of Ibn al-Ṣa'igh to 'Ali ben 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn al-Imam of Granada. 'Ali was Ibn al-Ṣa'igh's pupil and the collector of his works (Steinschneider, "Hebr. Uebers." p. 357).
Another Ḥayyim ibn Vives (Vivas) lived at the period when Judah b. Asher was in Toledo. He was then an old man, and occupied himself with rabbinical science. He lived at Xativa, at which place Isaac ben Sheshet addressed a letter to him (Responsa, No. 297).
