Mendelsohn, Martin
The 1901 Jewish Encyclopedia
German physician; born at Posen Dec. 16, 1860; studied medicine at the universities of Leipsic and Berlin (M.D. 1885). After a year spent in Paris, where he took a postgraduate course, he established himself as a physician in Berlin, becoming assistant at the first medical clinic and later at the Charit� Hospital. In 1895 he was admitted as privat-docent to the medical faculty of Berlin University, and received the title of professor in 1899.
Mendelsohn has collaborated on Eulenburg's "Realencyclop�dic der Gesammten Heilkunde," and since 1894 has edited the "Zeitschrift f�r Krankenpflege." He has contributed many essays (about 100) to the medical journals, and is the author of: "Das Opium," Berlin, 1888; "Der Comfort des Kranken," ib. 1890 (2d ed. 1892); "Aerztliche Kunst und Medizinische Wissenschaft," Wiesbaden, 1893; "Einfluss des Radfahrens auf den Menschlichen Organismus," Berlin, 1896; "Krankenpflege f�r Mediziner," ib. 1899.
