Vocabulary of the Greek NT

";Sceva,"; an inhabitant of Ephesus (Acts 19:14). The name is found in CIG II. 2889, with reference to a Milesian gladiator.

For a suggestion that ἑπτά in Acts 19:14, which changes unaccountably to ";two"; (ἀμφοτέρων) in Acts 19:16, may be due to a gloss, Σκευᾶ = שׁבע = ἑπτά, see Proleg. pp. 80, 246.
