Movie SF is, by definition, dumbed down - there have only been three or four SF movies in the history of film that aspire to the complexity of literary SF.

I never wanted to be a film director but after this experience I really loved it. I would love to do more documentaries but it's difficult to find backing for them.

Is this film more interesting than a documentary of the same actors having lunch?

Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.

I came on to the film with a very happy-go-lucky attitude which I think my character, Charlie, did when she went into the house. I expected it to be good, and then slowly things started to change for us all.

After I did Untamed Heart I wanted to do a film that was outrageous. I really wanted to do, you know, a performance. I don't want to allow my image to rule the choices that I make.

I was always such an incredible fan of John Woo, I just wanted to do this film with him.

I've explored the worship side, the pop side, and the film scoring side of me.

This fall I'm doing something I've never done before. I'm starring in a film, an independent film.

We did this film in 13 days, mind you. And 13 days is not very long for a feature film. Nobody in their right mind would argue that. Nobody in their right mind would do that.

In this film, we took a helicopter up and showed London as a vista, which is not very often done.

Making a film that's supposed to be fun to watch is really hard - that's the weird irony of it.

When a film like Chris Nolan's Memento cannot get picked up, to me independent film is over. It's dead.

Another thing that really excites me: I'd like to do multiple versions of the same film.

But my sense in talking to people when I travel is that the film business is not that dissimilar from a lot of other businesses.

I guess why the Ocean's films are hard for me is because on the one hand you have to make sure the performances are there, but on the other hand it's a film that demands, to my mind, a very layered and complex visual scheme. That takes a lot of time to figure out.

I'm sure some people will say, 'Why do this?' And my response is, 'Why wouldn't you?' The film business in general is using a model that is outdated and, worse than that, inefficient.

I'm a film doll. But I'm enjoying it. So I'm gonna keep doing it.

It's often the case with directors that they don't like to share credit, which is the case of Stanley. He would prefer just A Film By Stanley Kubrick including music and everything.
