Radio, newspapers, they were normal parts of my life. In those days, you had to go somewhere to watch television and leave something to see it.

The reason we have not gone to newspapers is because its a slow growth industry and I think they are dying. I'm not sure there will be newspapers in 10 years. I read newspapers every day. I even read Murdoch's Wall Street Journal.

The newspaper is dying. I'm not sure there will be newspapers and its one business I'd never be in.

The news in Europe, West and East, is still showing America in flames, flood, etc. Cities are shown underwater; befuddled American officials are shown trying to explain why we are winning the war on terrorism.

If it's far away, it's news, but if it's close at home, it's sociology.

Europe has a press that stresses opinions; America a press, radio, and television that emphasize news.

False history gets made all day, any day, the truth of the new is never on the news.

For a man who purports to have learned of media ethics only this month, Mr. Williams has spent an undue amount of time appearing as a media ethicist on both CNN and the cable news networks of NBC.

In that sense, when a Bush or a Gore, or whomever, goes on David Letterman, that's the news, too.
