A fictitious person, said to have been Governor of Judea before Pontius Pilate, and to have written a letter to the Roman Senate descriptive of Christ. The letter, which is apocryphal, agrees with the Abgar picture of Our Lord, and describes Him in accordance with the conception of Christian piety.
