1: συμβιβάζω

(Strong's #4822 — Verb — sumbibazo — soom-bib-ad'-zo )

signifies "to cause to coalesce, to join or knit together," Ephesians 4:16 , RV, "knit together" (AV, "compacted);" Colossians 2:2 , where some would assign the alternative meaning, "to instruct," as, e.g., in 1 Corinthians 2:16; in Colossians 2:19 , "knit together," it is said of the church, as the body of which Christ is the Head. See COMPACTED.

Note: In Acts 10:11 some mss. have the verb deo, "to bind," translated "knit," of the four corners of the sheet in Peter's vision. The RV "let down" translates the verb kathiemi, found in the best texts.
