City in the hill country of Judah, mentioned in the list of cities in the inheritance of that tribe (Joshua 15:58). Halhul was about four miles to the north of Hebron, and, according to a Jewish tradition (Hottinger, "Cippi Hebr." p. 32), was the burial-place of Gad, David's seer (1 Samuel 22:5; 2 Samuel 24:11). It is probably the modern Ḥalḥul.
