Russian writer; born at Volozhin 1816; died in Wilna Nov. 17, 1871. He translated Fénelon's "Les Aventures de Télémaque" into Hebrew, under the title "Kebod Elohim" (books , , Königsberg, 1851; books iii-, Wilna, 1853); wrote a biography of Æsop and translated some of his fables into Hebrew under the title "Ḥayye Asaf" (Warsaw, 1858); and composed a double commentary on Yalḳuṭ (Wilna, 1864).
