Princes have persecuted me without cause, but my heart fears only Your word.^(gs)

I rejoice over Your promise^(gt) like one who finds vast treasure.

I hate and abhor falsehood,^(gu) but I love Your instruction.^(gv)

I praise You seven times a day for Your righteous judgments.^(gw)

Abundant peace belongs to those^(gx) who love Your instruction; nothing makes them stumble.^(gy)

Lord , I hope for Your salvation^(gz) and carry out Your commands.

I obey Your decrees and love them greatly.^(ha)

I obey Your precepts and decrees, for all my ways are before You.^(hb)

Let my cry reach You, Lord ;^(hc) give me understanding according to Your word.^(hd)

Let my plea reach You;^(he) rescue me according to Your promise.^(hf)

My lips pour out praise,^(hg) for You teach me Your statutes.^(hh)

My tongue sings about Your promise,^(hi) for all Your commands are righteous.^(hj)

May Your hand be ready to help me,^(hk) for I have chosen Your precepts.^(hl)

I long for Your salvation, Lord , and Your instruction is my delight.^(hm)

Let me live, and I will praise You;^(hn) may Your judgments help me.

I wander like a lost sheep;^(ho) seek Your servant,^(hp) for I do not forget Your commands.^(hq)

In my distress I called to the Lord , and He answered me.^(a)

" Lord , deliver me from lying lips and a deceitful tongue."^(b)

What will He give you, and what will He do to you, you deceitful tongue?^(c)

A warrior's sharp arrows with burning charcoal!^[a](d)

What misery that I have stayed in Meshech,^[b](e) that I have lived among the tents of Kedar!^[c](f)

I have lived too long with those who hate peace.^(g)

I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.^(h)

I lift my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from?^(a)

My help comes from the Lord , the Maker of heaven and earth.^(b)

He will not allow your foot to slip; your Protector will not slumber.^(c)

Indeed, the Protector of Israel does not slumber or sleep.^(d)

The Lord protects you; the Lord is a shelter right by your side.^[a](e)

The sun will not strike you by day or the moon by night.^(f)

The Lord will protect you from all harm; He will protect your life.^(g)

The Lord will protect your coming and going both now and forever.^(h)

I rejoiced with those who said to me, "Let us go to the house of the Lord ."^(a)

Our feet are standing within your gates, Jerusalem^(b)—

Jerusalem, built as a city should be, solidly joined together,^(c)

where the tribes, Yahweh's tribes, go up to give thanks to the name of Yahweh.^(d) (This is an ordinance for Israel.^(e))

There, thrones for judgment are placed, thrones of the house of David.^(f)

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you prosper;^(g)

may there be peace within your walls, prosperity within your fortresses."^(h)

Because of my brothers and friends, I will say, "Peace be with you."⁽ⁱ⁾

Because of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good.^(j)

I lift my eyes to You, the One enthroned in heaven.^(a)

Like a servant's eyes on his master's hand, like a servant girl's eyes on her mistress's hand, so our eyes are on the Lord our God until He shows us favor.^(b)

Show us favor, Lord , show us favor, for we've had more than enough contempt.^(c)

We've had more than enough scorn from the arrogant and contempt from the proud.^(d)

If the Lord had not been on our side— let Israel say—

If the Lord had not been on our side^(a) when men attacked us,^(b)

then they would have swallowed us alive in their burning anger against us.^(c)

Then the waters would have engulfed us; the torrent would have swept over us;

the raging waters would have swept over us.^(d)

Praise the Lord , who has not let us be ripped apart by their teeth.^(e)

We have escaped like a bird from the hunter's net; the net is torn, and we have escaped.^(f)

Our help is in the name of Yahweh, the Maker of heaven and earth.^(g)
