Caussin (De Perceval), Armande Pierre

a French Orientalist, was born at Paris, Jan. 11, 1795. In 1821 he was appointed teacher of the vulgar Arabic at the college of Oriental languages in Paris, was made professor of Arabic in the College de France in 1833, and in 1849 he was elected member of the Academy. He died Jan. 15, 1871, leaving Essai sur L'Histoire des Arabes Avant L'Islamisme (Paris, 1847-49, 3 vols.) Grammaire Arabe Vulgaire (ibid. 1824): Dictionnaire Franç ais-Arabe. (B. P.)
